WESTON DUGAL THOMAS


WESTON DUGAL THOMAS '60 died on November 2, 2005 at home in Barrington, New Hampshire at age 68. the cause of death was cancer. Mr. Thomas' career was spent in the investment management business, and for the 15 years preceding his death he was Vice President and Director of Marketing of Capital Growth Management in Boston.

Born in New York City to Weston and Elizbeth Thomas on June 10, 1937, Mr. Thomas grew up in Denver and Connecticut. He was an accomplished mountain climber, having made the first ascent of the North Face of the Gothics in the Adirondack Mountains in March 1965. The route is still known as the Dugal Route.

Mr. Thomas graduated from Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts and Harvard College, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1965, attaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of the Explorers Club in New York and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Thomas of Barrington, New Hampshire; his daughter, Susan Gregory Thomas of New York City; his son, Colin M. Thomas of Charleston, South Carolina; two stepchildren, Tamara Milne and Senior Airman Aaron Milne of Barrington, New Hampshire; his sister, Hannah Ferenbach of New York City; and two grandchildren.
