A native of Saint Louis, Missouri, he was born December 5, 1939. He was a Lowell House resident and member of the Harvard Dramatic Club while at the College, receiving his A.B. in 1964.
As an actor under the stage name of Christopher Knight, he took time off from Harvard to appear in two Hollywood films, Studs Lonigan (1960) and If a Man Answers (1962).
